Discrimination is a particularly complicated area of the law. Our aim
is to provide advice, guidance and training on how to avoid claims by,
for example, having proper policies in place. We can also provide
representation at employment tribunals.
Sex
Under the Sex Discrimination Act (SDA) 1975 it is unlawful for employers
to discriminate on the grounds of sex, marriage, civil partnership,
pregnancy or maternity leave, or because someone intends to undergo,
is undergoing or has undergone gender reassignment.
The two main kinds of unlawful discrimination are direct and indirect
discrimination. It is also unlawful to victimise someone who has made a
complaint under the SDA.
Harassment, that is, unwanted conduct that violates a persons dignity
or creates and intimidating, hostile, degrading, humiliating or offensive
environment for that person, is also unlawful.
